As another fast-paced summer comes to a close, a colorful and chilly fall is soon to begin. With the start of the new season comes the start of the new season of fall TV. There are of course the beloved shows that have been renewed from last year, but there is a new batch of shows that are fresh out of the corporate oven. While many may have a predicted lifespan of one year, there are a few diamonds in the rough. Here are my top 3 favorites of this year’s fall TV lineup in descending order:

  1. “The Goldbergs” on ABC

Growing up in the 1980’s can be difficult, especially for Adam Goldberg. As a kid who isn’t very much into sports, he finds himself enjoying directing “home movies”, from which the series is based on. The third season picks up when Adam has just entered puberty, and we all know how that can complicate things. The show captures life in the 1980’s fairly well by making multiple references to popular items in pop culture at the time. I enjoyed the first two seasons and from the first couple episodes, the future of “The Goldbergs” seems like a bright one.

  1.  “Limitless” on CBS

“Limitless” somewhat follows the premise of the 2011 movie of the same name. A man takes a drug that lets him access 100% of his brain. Unlike the movie, the show tells the story of a man who obviously with the help of this drug, is perfect at solving crimes. Bradley Cooper reprises his role and is executive producer of the show. Limitless was one of my favorite movies of 2011 and the same can be said for the television show and definitely deserves a look.

  1.  “The Muppets” on ABC

The brainchild of Jim Henson makes its valiant return into television in the form of a modern day documentary that brings us up to speed with the lives of Kermit, Ms.Piggy and others, as well as what they have been doing while out of the spotlight. “The Muppets” returns as a show more geared towards adults, but still remains a quality show for kids of all ages.

While many new shows introduced each year often miss the mark and are either abruptly canceled or are never renewed for a second season, there are a slim few that stand out of the crowd in the saturated industry of television and are deserving of the praise given to them. Those listed above are examples of such shows and are personal favorites of mine, which I look forward to watching over this year’s Fall season.
