WWRD? Where to eat on Early Dismissal days

Kitty Owens, Staff Writer

Dear Rocky,

I am a freshman at Nazareth. I am not familiar with the area. I’ve heard that La Grange has a lot of good places to go and eat. On early dismissal days I was wondering what the best and most affordable places to go are?

– A Freshman Looking to Eat

Dear Freshman Looking to Eat,

Throughout the school year at Nazareth Academy, there are 12 early dismissal days. Many students that are not in activities or sports, usually go home. The majority of the student body is in sports and activities that start after 3 p.m on early dismissal days. This causes students to ask the question, “what should I do with the time I have?” Here are some answers for you.

If you are the type of student that likes to get homework done and have a quiet place to sit, than the dining hall and media center are for you. Since 1 p.m. is very close to lunch time and is the time we get out, an option for doing something is going to Downtown La Grange. There are many food places that have reasonable prices for students.

Also downtown La Grange is very close and it is in walking distance. The distance from Nazareth Academy to downtown La Grange is 0.8 miles. That is approximately a five minute drive and fifteen to twenty minute walk. In La Grange, there are clothing stores, food places, ice cream shops and many more places. For Nazareth students who are looking to eat, places to get food and sit down include Corner Bakery, Chipotle, Noodles & Company, Dinico’s, Red Mango, Smash Burger, Back Alley Burger and The Hot Dog Company.

Sophomore Carmella Weeg said, “my top three favorite places to eat in La Grange are Starbuck’s, Chipotle and Trugert. Starbuck’s and Trugert are good prices but Chipotle is a little more expensive. Chipotle is so worth it because it is so good.”

Sophomore Chris Payne said, “my favorite places to go are Chipolte, Back Alley Burger and Di Nico’s. But my top choice out of those three is probably Chipotle.”

Students who don’t have cars and are in the athletic program, do not have enough time to walk there and back and get food. An option for the students is to order sandwiches from Jimmy John’s or order a pizza from Di Nico’s. Both places deliver to Nazareth and the deliveries are quick. Jimmy John’s is a little expensive and with delivery it can cost even more. For Di Nico’s a whole pizza can range from being $12.00 to $30.00. The sizes of the pizza range from a small which is 12 inches to and extra large which is 18 inches. The biggest pizza is a stadium size pizza and the size of it is 18 inches by 26 inches and can feed eight to ten people.

So there you have it. There are endless opportunities to stay well fed on early dismissal days. Bon appetit!

Meep Meep,

Rocky
