Kyle Thorson took the helm as the new Food Service Director at the end of school last year. He couldn’t be more excited to be living out one of his high school dreams of being involved in the food industry.
From the moment he stepped foot on campus, he said he felt welcomed and has received help from everyone throughout the building. Thorson said, “Everybody’s been good, students are great, staff has been great.”
Thorson notes positive things that have come up through this job. He said, “The pros: I get to work with a bunch of different food, get to work with a bunch of people, get to create stuff and get to serve you guys [Nazareth students].” Thorson loves his role so far and is excited to continue working in the kitchen this school year.
While he was always interested in working in the food industry, that wasn’t Thorson’s only interest as a possible career. He said, “I had two career paths I wanted to go down. One, being a chef and two, being a firefighter, so obviously I’m not a firefighter, because I’m here.” Throson has embraced his dreams of being a chef and has embraced the Food Director role at Nazareth.
Thorson grew up in and around the food industry and that had a big impact on his decision to become a chef. Thorson said, “I’ve always been in restaurants in the kitchen, my uncle owned a bakery for a while, so I was doing that for a while.”
Thorson is looking forward to a great year at Nazareth, where he hopes to continue having a great time in the kitchen.
