It’s likely you’ve seen Devin Wiggins in the building, either because of his recognizable signature Hawaiian shirts, or because he’s fixing a tech issue in your classroom. In addition to helping put out tech fires, Wiggins enjoys playing video games and attempting to make the perfect cup of coffee.
Wiggins lives in Batavia, but grew up in DeKalb and Plano before he went to Michigan Technological University in Houghton, Michigan to study coding and computer science. Wiggins thoroughly enjoyed his time there. He said, “The Upper Peninsula of Michigan is beautiful. Especially in the Michigan Tech area, and especially during the winter.” Unfortunately, during his time at Michigan Tech, the COVID pandemic forced to move back home prematurely.
Despite his bright look and personality, Wiggins has a real interest in horror. He enjoys playing horror-themed video games and watching horror movies. He is also into K-Pop and video game soundtracks. His love of video games is one of the reasons he got interested in technology and his interest to know more about how it works. Wiggins said, “I always enjoyed learning the intricacies of things like video games.”
One thing he likes about working on the tech team at Nazareth is the fact he is able to learn from his day-to-day experiences while helping the faculty and staff. Since it’s hard to predict problems before they arise, Wiggins must be able to pivot and try to find solutions on the fly. But his past experience has proved valuable, too, “It’s just working from past experience,” he said. “I fixed this before, so I’ll be able to fix it for other people, too.”
