A nostalgic moment was sparked in the Romano Family Theatre the weekend of April 11-13. The world under the sea came to life on stage when Nazareth Academy Drama presented the spring musical, The Little Mermaid, which is based on the Disney movie so many of us grew up watching.
All four performances of the show were completely sold out and drew excited audiences packed full of friends, family, students, faculty, staff and community members.
Directed by drama and speech teacher, Aileen O’Carroll, the familiar production featured beautiful sets, colorful costumes and plenty of talented student performers who brought this fan-favorite from the screen to the stage with heart, humor, and amazing musicality.
Senior Lexi Connerty beautifully played the role of Ariel, the curious and courageous mermaid determined to live on land with her true love. Senior Jay Conkin embodied Prince Eric with charm and poise and Junior Grace Degnan’s villainous portrayal of the sea witch, Ursula, was searing.
The cast also included Ava Arroyo, Tyler Aulinskis, Max Bucur, Norah Cassidy, Danielle Chrzanowski, Ben Conkin, Grace Enderle, Mackenzie Grill, Vince Guidice, Gio Hill, Charlie Kaden, Bea Keenan, Daniel Kestler, Payton Kleppetsch, Madison Luzzi, Chris Martinez, Cait McCall, Marin McMahon, Cassidy Murphy, Max Negrete, Shaye Neville, Bridget Nolan, Caitlin O’Connell, Emma O’Connell, Liam O’Meara, Patrick O’Reilly, Gianna Parolin, Ellie Pedergnana, Sadie Quinlan, Daisy Quinonez, Nick Racki, Garrett Reese, Kyle Sales, Jack Siffermann, Peyton Smolarczyk, Greta Sznewajs, Esteban Toledo, Ella Veenendaal, Lucas Weber and Maryssa Zielinski.
To transform the Romano Family Theatre into an underwater wonderland, the student crew worked tirelessly on the lighting, sound and set design to make sure each element was perfect for the performance.
