5 Easy Ways to Contribute to a Successful Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is a hectic holiday for most families, and your family has been stressing about it for weeks. You should take initiative and help your parents out in some way or another. You may not think there is much you can do, and you may not be a 5-star chef, but there are many ways to contribute to this year’s Thanksgiving. So how do you help out? Here are some steps to find out.

  1. Make an easy side dish. One easy side dish that is a delicious Thanksgiving classic is mashed potatoes. You can find a simple mashed potatoes recipe anywhere, and they do not take long to make.
  2. Go grocery shopping for your parents. Ask your parents to make a list for you, and go to the grocery store to purchase everything they need. Grocery shopping can sometimes be time consuming and frustrating, so your parents would appreciate it if you performed that task for them.
  3. Clean the house. If you are hosting Thanksgiving, it is important that your house is nice and clean. Your parents have to focus on the meal, so the last thing they want to do is spend time cleaning the house. You do not have to clean it perfectly, as it will probably be a mess by the end of the night, but at least get rid of the dust and clean the bathrooms.
  4. Set the table. Setting the table will give your parents more time to prepare the meal. Feel free to decorate it however you like; adding candles and a special tablecloth will give the table a more elegant touch. Have caution while carrying the special plates and glasses, though!
  5. Clean up after the big meal. Not only are you helping your parents, but you are also shortening the wait time for dessert. It’s likely that your parents will be exhausted by this point, so they will greatly appreciate your help with the dishes.
