Disney+ is the latest specialty streaming service made available for on-demand viewing. The service launched on November 12, 2019 and has been very popular.
So, how popular has Disney+ really been? According to Business Insider, “On the first day of its launch, more than 10 million people signed up.”
“While services such as Netflix and Hulu cast a wide net over movie and TV entertainment, Disney Plus is much more focused and narrow in scope by revolving entirely around Disney content,” says the Business Insider article.
Sophomore Leo Saavedra states, “I do not have Disney+ but I would very much enjoy it and I would like to have it. I have heard many good things about it.” Leo thinks that Disney+ would be a great new way to watch all of his old childhood shows.
So what does Disney + offer exactly? Of course it offers Disney movies and shows, but aside from those, subscribers have access to watch series from Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic, and 20th Century Fox.
Business Insider agrees, “Luckily, it doesn’t actually feel that limited since Walt Disney Studios and Walt Disney Television create everything from animated kids’ movies to action and sci-fi thrillers. At this point, it’s difficult to find someone who isn’t a Disney fan in some capacity — with Disney Plus, there’s a movie or series for everyone.”
According to sophomore Molly McGee, “The Disney Channel itself has canceled all of our childhood shows, and created new ones. Disney+ is a way we can watch our favorite shows and movies, at a cheaper price than other streaming services like Netflix.”
Some specific content available on Disney+ include old classics like the Disney princess movies, the original Star Wars movies, as well as Toy Story and thousands of other options.
Although Disney+ is still so new, it has already been voted as many people’s favorite streaming service. It is also very promising how Disney+ is constantly adding new shows and movies to keep everything updated.
The streaming service costs $6.99/month or $69.99/year after a seven-day free trial.
