Nothing is scarier than a party without yummy snacks. Bring the spirit of Halloween back in your party with these treats!
For a big crowd pleaser, try whipping up some Halloween Chex mix. You’ll need four ounces of white chocolate baking bars, two cups of Corn Chex or Rice Chex cereal, one cup of bite-sized pretzel twists, a quarter cup of raisins, and a half cup of candy corn. First, chop up the chocolate into small pieces and melt them in the microwave (on high) for a minute to a minute and thirty seconds, making sure that you stir it up every now and then so it melts evenly. Once melted, stir in the other goodies you have out, until everything his covered. After, spread out your snack on wax paper or foil for it to cool and harden (which takes about thirty minutes), and then break it into manageable chunks. Throw it in a bowl for your guests or spoon it into cupcake holders for an easy grab-n-go. Remember, though, this recipe only makes nine servings.
And here’s a great recipe for those of you who have little siblings. Make some chocolate spiders! To make these creepy-crawlies you’ll need one cup of semisweet chocolate chips, one teaspoon of butter, twenty-four large marshmallows, one package of chow mein noodles, and one package of mini M&Ms. First, melt your chocolate chips and butter in the microwave; again, make sure to stir it every now and then so everything melts. Pour it into a plastic bag and set it off to the side until you need it. Using a cookie sheet lined with wax paper, arrange the marshmallows. Remember to stick some noodles in them for legs! Cut a corner of your plastic bag off and use it to coat the marshmallows. Finish by adding the M&Ms for eyes and putting the pan in the fridge so the chocolate can harden.
If you’re looking for something a little healthier for your guests, try this: caramel apple dip with apple slices. To make sixteen servings, you’ll need one package of softened cream cheese, a half cup of packed brown sugar, a quarter cup of caramel ice cream topping, a teaspoon of vanilla, one cup of marshmallow crème, three medium sized apples (tart to make the sweetness of the dish pop), two tablespoons of lemon juice, and two tablespoons of water. Once you have all your ingredients, beat the cream cheese, brown sugar, caramel, and vanilla together until smooth. Then, fold in the marshmallow crème. In another small bowl, combine your lemon juice and the water, and slice your apple slices vertically so you get round pieces. Toss the fruit in this mixture and then drain. Pick out your favorite Halloween cookie cutters, like leaves or moons or ghosts, and cut out the center of the slices. Set it out and enjoy your treat!
