Golf teams enjoy successful, rewarding season

When asked about a popular fall sport, many reply with the most obvious answer: football. But Nazareth’s golf team has had a standout season that deserves to be recognized as well.

During the past two years at Nazareth, golf has been one of the most successful sports. The team has sent golfers from both teams (boys and girls) to state each year, and they have been successful.

Junior Danielle Chopp said, “Golf is a very underrated sport, we work just as hard as other sports, practice almost every day, and compete almost every week, if not more. Being on golf has changed my experience here at Naz. It has been such a fun experience, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.”

This past competition, the girls beat their team goal and shot under 200, which is a significant accomplishment for them. On Monday, September 26th, some members of the varsity team, including Daphne Bigelow and Samantha Weidner, had a conference. Hopefully this year will be another successful year for girls golf.

Mr. Turner, one of the golf coaches, has led the boys in a successful year so far, as they have an 8-2 record this year. Junior Jack Anderson said, “Golf has been so fun all three years, and I am so happy that I joined. Naz golf is actually so good.”

Golf, a very competitive sport, is one of the best, and most underrated sports at Nazareth.
