College basketball predictions

Bridget Lockie, Staff Writer

As the college football season comes to an end, college sports fans around the nation begin to tune in more intently to the college hoops world.

Looking back on the first half of the season, there is one thing that makes this season more unique than its predecessors: there is no utterly dominant team in the entire nation, but several competitors show great potential to make a deep run in the March NCAA Tournament.

This season has been among the best for viewers, due to the immense amount of upsets and high-scoring games. Since there have been many surprises and different top-ranked teams, it will be difficult for fans to pinpoint a single champion on their brackets come March.

Although this season has been full of surprises, there are still several viable contenders that I can see making a deep run. The teams that I see making a deep run in March include some obvious contestants and a couple dark horses as well.

The following teams are among the highest ranked in the nation, and I think they will do some damage come Tournament time. North Carolina, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Xavier are all teams that exhibit great potential to do well for the rest of the season. The talent on these teams is immense, and I think fans are definitely considering them to be elite contenders.

But, as I have stated, this season has been full of upsets. And although the following teams may not show the greatest strength in their rankings, Iowa, Butler, and SMU (Southern Methodist University) are definitely hidden powerhouses. SMU has displayed strength this season, being the only undefeated team left in the field. Fans should carefully consider some dark horses in their brackets when March comes around.

Make sure you pay close attention to college basketball in the coming months to see how this entertaining season plays out.
