Math Club is going to state! After the regional math contest on February 25 at North Central College, The Illinois Council of Teachers of Mathematics (ICTM) Committee announced the great news: the Nazareth Math Team has been invited to the annual ICTM State Finals on May 6th at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. This year, Nazareth is qualified for Algebra II Individual contest for juniors, Pre-calculus Individual contest for seniors and Junior/Senior eight person contest, so a team of approximately 12 members will be attending the state competition. Currently, Math Club is selecting the best people to build the strongest team, which is always a tough decision to make for Mrs. Lorraine Weber and Mrs. Linda Behrendt, the coordinators of Math Club. Since Naz Math Team has won a number of awards in previous years, they are looking forward to standing out again at state this year, and in order to achieve that goal, the members meet weekly to discuss math problems and work through practice packets. Best of luck to Math Club!
